🔍 ChatGPT Now Searches All Your Chats, Files, and Projects in One Place

OpenAI rolled out unified search across ChatGPT, letting users find information from past conversations, uploaded documents, images, and projects using plain language queries instead of manually scrolling through chat history.

What's new:

• Search across previous chats, projects, uploaded documents, images, and AI-generated content from one interface
• Uses semantic search to understand meaning and intent, not just exact keywords
• Example searches: "marketing proposal from last month," "Python automation script," "vacation itinerary," "logo concepts"
• Returns results across multiple content types in a single search
• Works across ongoing long-term projects spanning weeks or months

What you can find:

• Previous chat conversations
• Uploaded PDFs, reports, presentations, spreadsheets
• Images generated or uploaded in past conversations
• Project files and workspace resources
• Code snippets, research notes, meeting summaries

Why it matters:

The bigger shift here is that ChatGPT is quietly moving from a chatbot you talk to, into a knowledge base you can actually retrieve things from. For anyone who uses ChatGPT daily for work, the real productivity loss has never been generating answers - it's been losing track of the good ones.

Being able to search across everything you've ever uploaded or discussed removes the reason most people end up asking the same question twice, which is more useful than any new generation feature OpenAI has shipped in months.

🍎 Apple Opens New AI-Powered Siri to Everyone Through iOS 27 Public Beta

Apple released the iOS 27 public beta, giving everyday iPhone users access to the redesigned Siri AI for the first time outside of developer testing ahead of the full launch this fall.

What's new:

• iOS 27 public beta available now, full launch expected in September
• First time Apple has made redesigned Siri available beyond developers
• Available across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, CarPlay, AirPods, Apple TV, and Vision Pro
• Not available in the EU on iOS, iPadOS, and watchOS
• Access via "Hey Siri," side button, swiping down from Dynamic Island, or new standalone Siri app
• Integrated into iPhone's Spotlight search for finding answers to almost any question
• Can access emails, photos, and messages on the device
• Responds to what's on screen and grounds answers in world knowledge, like modern AI chatbots
• Built using Apple's Foundation Models, developed with Google's Gemini through a distillation process
• Personal data not stored or accessible to Apple through Private Cloud Compute

What it can do in early testing:

• Find specific photos in Photo Library
• Summarize group texts
• Add appointments sent via text directly to the calendar
• Look up nutritional information about food in camera view
• Answer questions you'd normally search the web for, like local events or news

Known issues:

• Occasional error messages in the developer beta
• Example: asked for the latest news about Iran, searched contacts for someone named Iran instead

Why it matters:

Siri has been Apple's most embarrassing product for years compared to what ChatGPT and Gemini can do, so opening this beta to 2.5 billion device owners is Apple's most public admission yet that it needs to close the gap fast.

The fact that Siri now works without opening an app and sits inside Spotlight gives it a distribution advantage no other AI assistant has - it's just there, on a device people already carry everywhere, which could matter more than which model scores highest on a benchmark.

🔗 Google Search AI Mode Now Connects to Instacart, Canva, and YouTube Music

Google expanded Connected Apps in AI Mode to all US users, letting the AI handle grocery shopping, playlist creation, and design tasks directly through Google Search.

What's new:

• Rolling out now for US users, more partner apps coming
• Connect Instacart to AI Mode: tell AI to "get me all the things I need for my BBQ and add them to my grocery cart," AI scans Gmail and Google Account for details, selects preferred store, builds grocery list, opens Instacart for checkout
• Connect YouTube Music: ask AI to create a playlist for someone's birthday, AI pulls songs from their birth year, blending past and present, generates playlist with title, song count, and length with options to add to library or play (playlists expire, so save them)
• Connect Canva: describe a banner or flyer with theme, date, and event details, AI creates it in chat, tap to edit in the Canva app

Context:

• Follows the Personal Intelligence launch in January that connected Google Photos, Gmail, YouTube, and other Google apps to Gemini
• That experience expanded to AI Mode, Gemini, and Gemini in Chrome in March
• This update extends beyond Google's own apps into third-party services for the first time

Why it matters:

Google giving AI Mode access to third-party apps is a bigger strategic move than it looks - it turns Google Search into the one place people go to get things done instead of just finding information

The Instacart integration is the clearest example - instead of searching for a recipe, going to Instacart, and building a cart manually, the AI collapses all of that into one conversation, which changes what it means to compete with Google for a user's attention.
