🛠️ OpenAI DevDay 2026: Dots Agents, a Cheaper GPT-6, and Tools That Turn ChatGPT Into a Team Workspace
OpenAI held its biggest DevDay yet with over 20 announcements, and almost all of them push ChatGPT further into territory that used to belong to project management and productivity tools.
What's new:
- Dots are always-on agents that learn your preferences and keep working in the background without being prompted each time, available on Pro and Business Premium plans
- GPT-6.1 Sol brings near-GPT-6 Astra performance at one-fifth of the cost, with strong coding capabilities, available across all tiers including the API
- Ultrafast Mode delivers up to 8x faster output in Codex and 6x faster in the API for time-critical work
- ChatGPT gets team Spaces, collaborative Pages, interactive slides with real-time multi-user editing, and recurring task delegation triggered by events like new emails or Slack messages
- @ChatGPT can now be tagged directly inside Slack and Microsoft Teams without individual licenses required for each team member
- Codex adds cloud running, voice commands in the CLI, GitHub and GitLab code review, and a new security scanning tool for repositories
- The Agents API now supports computer use, letting agents interact directly with software to complete tasks
- A new Decisions API handles real-time classification and routing for content, requests, and agent actions
- Plugin Extensions let developers build sidebar experiences and custom file viewers inside ChatGPT
- Pro 500 offers 25x the usage of standard Plus, with Ultrafast access included
- Sign in with ChatGPT is now accepted across 16 partner platforms, including Notion, Vercel, and Devin
- The OpenAI Marketplace lets enterprise customers apply existing OpenAI spend toward 32 approved partner tools, including Adobe, Figma, Harvey, Salesforce, and Palo Alto Networks
Why it matters:
OpenAI now has 1.2 billion weekly ChatGPT users, and DevDay made clear what it plans to do with that reach. Every announcement this year was focused on keeping teams inside ChatGPT longer: shared spaces, collaborative documents, agents running in the background, and an enterprise marketplace that ties company budgets directly to the OpenAI ecosystem.
The question for every competing tool is no longer whether ChatGPT is coming for their users. It is how long they have before it gets there.

🧩 Google Launches Gemini 4 Argon With Deeper Reasoning for Complex, Multi-Step Work
Google has announced Gemini 4 Argon, a new frontier model designed for complex, long-horizon work across software engineering, legal and financial research, and cybersecurity defense.
What's new:
- Gemini 4 Argon is rolling out first to a select group of trusted cyber defenders through Google's Fairwind Program, with broader access to paid API customers and Google AI Ultra subscribers coming soon
- Output token limit jumps to 1 million tokens, up from 64K, giving the model far more headroom to work through long, complex tasks in a single run
- Argon ranks first on the Vals Index, which measures economic impact across finance, coding, legal, and tax work weighted by contribution to US GDP
- It sets a new record on DeepSWE v1.1 (77.9%), a benchmark for real-world long-horizon software engineering tasks
- On AutomationBench, which measures end-to-end execution across core business functions, Argon ranks first with a score of 51.3%
- For cybersecurity defense, trusted defenders get access without cyber guardrails, allowing the model to autonomously find, validate, and patch critical software vulnerabilities
- Argon already uncovered a critical vulnerability in healthcare software used by hospitals worldwide that previous frontier models had missed
- Inside Google, the model is being used to migrate large C and C++ codebases to Rust, free up memory across Google's data centers, and optimize quantum computing algorithms
- Introductory pricing is $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens
Why it matters:
Google is not releasing Argon to the public first. It is deploying it inside its own infrastructure, running real migrations, freeing up data center memory, and patching live security vulnerabilities before anyone else gets access.
That is a deliberate choice. When a company uses its most powerful tool on its most critical systems before shipping it, the confidence signal it sends to enterprise buyers is hard to replicate with any benchmark score.

Ideogram has launched Ideogram 4.5, its most precise image editing model yet, built to maintain quality across multiple rounds of edits without degrading the parts of an image you did not touch.
What's new:
- Ideogram 4.5 reduces pixel shifts, color changes, and texture artifacts that build up across multiple rounds of editing, a problem that makes most AI image editors unusable after a few changes
- Users can edit high-resolution images up to 24.2 megapixels without downsizing them first, with the model preserving edges so the edited crop stitches back into the original seamlessly
- Supported edit types include color and lighting, text modification and translation, product photography, interior design, architecture, restoring old photos, sketch to image, style reference, reframing, and depth to image
- Side-by-side comparisons show GPT Image 2.5 and Nano Banana outputs becoming unusable within a few edits, while Ideogram 4.5 stays clean throughout
- Available via web, API, and MCP for developers
Why it matters:
The real test for any image editing tool is not the first edit. It is the fifth, after a client has asked for three rounds of changes and the brief has shifted twice.
That is where most AI image tools quietly break down, and it is exactly what Ideogram 4.5 is designed to survive.
