🤝 Anthropic Launches Claude Duet, a Proactive AI Agent That Completes Work in the Background

Anthropic has opened a research preview of Claude Duet, a new app where Claude acts as a proactive agent for professionals and small business owners. You can join the waitlist today on iOS, Android, and the web.

What’s new:

  • Sends a short morning brief on the most important items across your connected apps
  • Checks those apps every few hours and messages you only when something needs your attention
  • Takes on tasks from scheduling meetings to building dashboards, financial or sales forecasts, prototypes, and web apps
  • Keeps working when you step away, using its own virtual machine and browser, and notifies you when a task is done or needs review
  • Lets you message it by typing or voice in one ongoing thread
  • Carries over your memory, skills, and connected apps from your Claude account
  • Works with more than 6,000 connectors and plugins in the Claude Marketplace, including Gmail, Slack, QuickBooks, Stripe, Gusto, HubSpot, Canva, Shopify, and DocuSign
  • Shows you what it’s about to do and waits for approval before it sends a message, makes a payment, signs a document, or deletes anything
  • Blocks some actions even with your approval, like trading securities or moving money between accounts
  • Buys things for your business through Stripe’s digital wallet Link, which pays with a virtual card so your real card number isn’t shared
  • Never sees your passwords or sign-in tokens
  • Uses a new safety check that rejects requests to share the strictest information, like credit card numbers and government ID, and sends health or personal finance details only when you tell it to
  • Will soon sign in to sites with logins saved in 1Password and let you design a Shopify storefront in a visual editor before it goes live
  • Starts in the US for Pro and Max subscribers and counts toward the same usage limits as the rest of Claude, including its background checks
  • Is still an early version, so it may misread a thread or misjudge what’s urgent, and it’s weaker at personal errands like booking tickets
  • Early testers say it flagged a property showing set for the wrong day and offered to move a client call that fell right before a flight

Why it matters:

For most professionals and small business owners, a big part of the day goes to deciding what deserves attention before any real work starts.

Anthropic built Duet to make that call, separating what needs you from what can wait, so the ambitious projects that felt too daunting finally get room.

🖼️ Canva Launches Craft to Create Images With Accurate Text and Editable Layers

Canva has unveiled Craft, the first image generation model built from scratch by its in-house research lab, Canva Research. It’s made for design work, from social posts and posters to presentation visuals.

What’s new:

  • Plans the layout first, including what appears where, how big it is, and what text is needed, then creates the image
  • Writes legible text in 55 languages, and prompts can be written in any language
  • Creates images up to 2K resolution in more than 30 aspect ratios, or in a custom size
  • Works with Magic Layers to turn images into editable design elements, so you can change one part without redoing the rest
  • Learned from millions of Canva templates, including posters, menus, and presentations, to understand how layout and text fit together
  • Was refined with feedback from Canva’s professional designers, who compared more than 25,000 pairs of images against leading models
  • Ranks fourth among image models on DesignArena, which puts Canva Research second among AI labs for image generation
  • Takes first place for people and portraits and for landscapes and nature, and second for abstract and patterns
  • Is available today to all Canva users worldwide through Dream Lab, and to developers through Canva’s API
  • Will soon work with AI assistants through Canva’s connector, so they can create ready-to-use images as part of a bigger task
  • Has faster, lower-cost versions called Craft-fast and Craft-ultrafast on the way, along with reference-image and advanced editing tools
  • Comes with Canva Shield, Canva’s safety approach, which includes content moderation and tools to report harmful or misleading content

Why it matters:

More than a quarter of a billion people use Canva, and they create over 400 designs every second. Craft lands in front of that audience on day one.

For small business owners and creators making posters, social posts, and flyers, image generation now sits inside the tool they already design in.

🔐 1Password Launches Secure Sign-Ins for AI Agents Without Exposing Your Passwords

1Password has launched 1Password for Agents, a platform that lets personal AI agents log in to the accounts your tasks need without being handed your passwords. Until now, an agent that reached a login page had to stop and wait for you to type your details yourself.

What’s new:

  • Lets an agent ask to use a login from your 1Password vault when it reaches a sign-in page
  • Fills in your username and password on the site once you approve, so the agent never sees your password or one-time code
  • Lets you choose which login an agent can use and disconnect the integration at any time
  • Works with Muse from Meta, Anthropic’s Claude Duet, OpenAI’s ChatGPT Work and dots, SpaceXSI Grok Bot, and Town’s Townie
  • Rolls out for Muse and Grok Bot over the coming days on all platforms, with Claude Duet, ChatGPT Work and dots, and Townie (web and iOS) coming soon
  • Adds Instinct, Browserbase, Browser Use, Dana, KERNEL, Perplexity, Ramp, Tomo, and Wajo soon
  • Keeps your logins in one vault, so a changed password only needs updating once for every connected agent
  • Works across browsers, cloud computers, and work apps, and lets you connect several agents at once
  • Comes free with Individual and Family accounts, while accounts on 1Password’s EU and Canada sites aren’t supported yet
  • Offers safeguards and controls that vary from one agent integration to the next

Why it matters:

The password problem has quietly blocked personal AI agents since they started getting useful. Every time an agent hits a login wall, it either stops completely or you end up pasting your password directly into a chat.

1Password is building the missing layer that makes personal agents trustworthy for real-world tasks, and the approval-before-access model is the right call because it keeps the human in the loop without making the whole thing so slow that people stop using it.
